Crate Paper Bloom and Happy and Hello Sunshine

This was my final class at the retreat, and after dinner on Saturday - I'll leave it there, but it did get messy with the glitter paste.

I used Crate Paper's Bloom collection along with some of the lovely glitter and crackle pastes and mists BoBunny does.  We started with the crackle paste, then added a bit of misting and a little bit of the gold glitter.  We also glittered some white feathers with gold glitter paste.

I really like this picture of my son, and the gold went perfectly with it.

The second page involved stencils and paste and a few drips of mist along with lots of layering of squares, and another sunny photo of us near the Monument in Washington.

BoBunny Bella Rosa Together and Nothing Like a Good Book

This was my next class at the ATDML retreat - using the beautiful Bella Rosa collection from BoBunny, we played with gesso and mists, and then altered some cogs with chameleon wax and glass beads (pentart).  A little bit of tearing and some muslin.  I used it for some of our beachy photos from our holiday as the colours worked really well.

The next page used a slightly different paint effect with gesso and mist, then I designed a cut file for the leaves, again you can see bits of chameleon wax on the cogs and embellishments.

My husband found a good place to sit and read!

Shimelle's Go Now Go with ATDML

I got to do 3 classes at the ATDML retreat - it was a super weekend with lots of laughter, good food and scrapping!  Here is the first class that I taught and it was not messy and fairly straight forward.  I chose Shimelle's Go Now Go range as the papers are packed with colour and beautiful, perfect for a few holiday snaps too.

This is a shot of us all on a rollercoaster in Canada - it was meant for young children, but scary enough for me!!

I love this colourful city scape in the collection and I used it to document our trip to New York and ride on the Staten Island ferry - just lots of layering of paper elements and then some of the chipboard pieces too.

With all the bits that I had left over I had a go creating diamonds from them all, another New York shot from the Top of the Rock.

You and Me with Amy Tan

This page is using the Be Happy collection from Amy Tan - I kept it really simple, and because she is using lots of watercolours in her collections I had a play with watercolours on my page, starting with yellow at the top and moving to oranges at the bottom.  I just layered up a few of the pieces of paper and then a wood veneer for the title, and left it at that for this page.

My Dad and my eldest enjoyed making funny poses and just being a little bit silly in our photos so here they are at the Lincoln Reflecting pool getting a shot of them infant of the Monument.

Accompanying the main page is my pocket page, again with lots of notes and some of the cards from Shimelle's Go Now Go range.  This was our 2nd day and we went up to see Capital Hill, though it is being cleaned so you couldn't really see too much of it and then walked to the amazing Museums - after the walking on the previous day we decided on an air-con train ride and the Museums were all air-con too, so  it was a cooler day for us!

Washington with Go Now Go

This month for ATDML we had a kit packed with Shimelle's Go Now Go and Amy Tan's  Be Happy collections.  I decided to use them both for the start of my album documenting our holiday this year.  This is my opening page and our first day in Washington at the White House.  I used the bazzill cardstock to create an American Flag and then just used lots of the embellishments from the range to add a little bit extra to the photos.

As this is a holiday album, I end up with loads of photos, and so they don't sit in a box I really like to use pocket pages, which also encourage me to do a lot more journalling than I normally wood.  Again I used pieces from the Go Now Go collection - like the train-board words and added some stars to help it tie in with my layout.

We did have a mammoth trip this summer and visited loads of places, Washington was lovely - I hadn't banked on how warm it gets (and humid) in the summer and how far apart everything is - we did do a lot of walking, and had a few stops for ice cream, trying to get to air-conditioned buildings!  You'll see more photos from our trip so I will tell you a little more about what we got up to in my next instalment.

Be Happy Canvas with BoBunny

Hi everyone, I wanted to share with you a canvas I made using the beautiful Bella Rosa collection from BoBunny and also lots of their different coloured pearlescents.

I started the canvas with the primer and crackle paste, and left it over night to dry - the thicker the layer of primer the larger the cracks.  I then added some stencilling with BoBunny doily stencils in a flitter paste, as well as some of their foil rub ons in copper.  Then I added some more gesso and did some spritzing.  I layered up my papers and again a little more gesso with those too, and one of the chipboard pieces from the Bella Rosa layered chipboards.  I then added my last little bit of white gesso, then went to work with mixing some of the pearlescents with a little bit of water, so you get a shiny watercolour paint, I used a rainbow of colours to keep in theme with the happiness quote, and finally added a few gems.

It was really nice just to play with lots of layers for this project and see where it went.

Tis the Season

Here is a page I made for BoBunny using their Tis the Season papers - I started with lots of tearing and distressing and made little tears around some of the edges which I then backed with paper and gauze.  As the main print is quite busy, I softened it around the photo with some white gesso, then added a bit of gold mist and some stamping too.  I layered and tore all my photo mounts then tucked in flowers and little presents that I cut out of one of the sheets of paper.  I love that there are so many little bits to cut out on the BoBunny sheets, so you can always find a co-ordinating embellishment.
The finishing touches were some of their gem swirls and brads.

Here are lots more pictures for you to have a look at
