Birthday Card with Tando

This months challenge over on the Tando blog is called 'Feel the Heat' so I had a play with a mask, some inks and Tando butterflies for it.

For my label mask I used the left over part of a die cut tag that I taped onto my card.  I then used my distress inks, starting with the lightest colour first and at the bottom moving to the red at the top, using a make-up sponge to add the colour.  I then used a gel pen to outline the shape - I traced around the mask a couple of times, moving it slightly to get the shadowy effect.  I then used a couple of butterflies and inked them black and stamped Happy Birthday at the bottom.  A really quick and easy card to make but I love the silhouette effect that it gives.

Gone Fishing

Morning everyone here is another page using the lovely Mammarazzi 2 collection from BoBunny that I got in my ATDML box, I love the colours and designs.  I started with a bit of stencilling and some gesso on my main patterned sheet, and then layered up lots of different papers behind my photos..the cameras on some of the sheets are just asking to be fussy cut so I used one as an embellishment at the corner of my photo and then layered up a wood veneer and some sequins and stickers.  I also dug out some eyelets and had a go at lacing my paper - I tore it, and crumpled it into a V, then added the eyelets and thread, and backed the gap with an off cut. I made my own bunting and stitched it altogether (letting the machine run a couple of stitches in between each flag), I also made some fish to hang from it too, then a few wood veneer chevrons to highlight the main point in the photo.  I stamped and spritzed the edge of my brown backing paper to make it look a little more fishing net like too.

These are from one of our half term trips to a  fishing lake, it is the first time my kids have had a go, mainly as neither me or my husband know anything about fishing, but one of our friends does...they loved it!

A couple of Cards on Tuesday

Catching up again and this time with some cards.  The first I made for the Tando blog, I had a go at an easel card which I love 'cos they are easy to make but just look a little different.  I used a mix of Crate Paper and American Crafts to decorate it - love the Dear Lizzy masons jars still and I used my Teresa Collins stamps to add the sentiments in the middle.  I then inked up a Tando star gold and tucked it behind the jar.  For the base of the easel I cut out a babygrow and wrapped it in twine, then adding a little star button which I embossed.

I'm still experimenting with my card making, and this card is a kind of random mixture of things that I would use on my scrap pages....in fact it is a lot of the left behind bits - I had a go at spritzing on a card, then layered up a doily, some embossed vellum, another mason jar as well as a sprinkling of sequins and little pearls.

On a Walk?

Hello everyone, we are back and I've nearly washed everything!! (it was a huge mountain as we were camping so not only clothes but then we wash and sort all the stuff before we pack it away).  I was hoping to post a little more often whilst we were away but I only managed the first week of posts and the wifi at our site was not co-operating with me...I think it was struggling as so many of us have wifi devices now and it is just too much traffic for  a little router.  Where did we go? France with a load of friends and the weather was beautiful, there will be several body boarding and marshmallow eating pages coming up.  However back to this page which is from another camping trip to Suffolk, and this was us on a caching walk (geo-caching)...however when I looked back on the photos I noticed that my boys skipped a bit of the walking and seemed to prefer a carry!!!!

I made the page for the Studio Challenge blog whose challenge is to use glitter, which immediately made me think of some of the gold glittered Crate Paper DIY shop ephemera and the large peony type flower.  I also made my own stitched vellum pocket with a mix of gold sequins (from the poundshop) and dug out my glittered thickers for the title which was great as I haven't used them in ages.  The rest of the papers are from DIY shop, and I nearly forgot the chipboard banner is threaded with gold sparkly thread too, and some golden shimmer mist drips.  I stitched and distressed all the layers and added in a doily and some lace too.

If you would like to join in the challenge and see all the other beautiful pages from the DT then here is the link.

I hope you are all enjoying the holidays and I will be back with loads of the posts that I never managed to post :D

A couple of Cards

Here are a couple of cards that I did with the remains of my Fancy Pants papers from ATDML.  For the 1st one I used a Simple Stories camera stamp, then mounted it on some of the papers, adding a little twine wrap - so a really quick and simple card.

I was a little more adventurous with this card and went for a tri-fold, made out of some pink 12" cardstock.  I cut some of the papers to fit, and used the rest of my stitched banner and some of the cardstock Trendsetter stickers that come with the papers too...I am gradually finding my own card making style and enjoying making them more and more!

The Sweet Game

Hello, this weeks challenge over at the Studio is to use at least 3 photos on a page.  I often use 1 photo so it was a great excuse to have a rummage and find a few photos on a theme and use some new very boyish echo park papers I picked up on my holidays!

I started by cutting out some chevrons, and then I stuck them in different areas on my page, trying to highlight the sweets in the photos....and then stitched across in lines through the chevrons.  I cut a strip of yellow for the central photo area of my page and cut out several wheels that were on the papers, layering them around the photos, then a few stickers (some of them are from the This and That range...sequins, a little ink and a combination of Glitz and American Crafts for the Alphabet.

Whilst on holiday we developed a surprisingly fun game (I was surprised that they requested it and really enjoyed it!).  Basically you had a sweet - these are probably wine gums and then had to see how long you could suck it for (preferably until we got to our destination) so here are some photos to document how well they were all doing with it!  The kids loved it!!

So if you would like to incorporate 3 or more photos on a page then link it up with the challenge here.

Love This with Tando

It is Hearts and Swirls week this week over at the Tando blog so I dug out my Dear Lizzy papers and had a go at a heart filled page.  I started with the Tando heart mask and used 3 different colours of chalk ink, I then hand cut loads of hearts, stuck and stitched some of them down as a background, next layering up a doily and some flowers adding my photo to the middle.  I painted a Tando heart shaped button and then spritzed it with yellow mist, adding a pin behind and some twine to it, and then my journalling underneath.  I used an old Brenda Pinnick acetate style alpha for the word love and then my trusty pack of multicoloured simple stories alphabets.

The photo is a phone photo taken underneath the Cutty Sark on one of our holiday days out...I had a bit of a play with some of the photo effects and played with over exposing the photo and adding some blue...but I love this shot of us all together.

For lots more inspiration check out the Tando blog here.
