Circle Flower Tutorial

The idea for this tutorial came to me whilst making the roof to a lighthouse for our junk model island at school!
The supplies - 3 circle dies (these are sizzix ones) or punches or cut your own circles!  PVA glue (or your glue of preference), scissors, ink for edging the circles, some 3D foam pads and a cocktail stick- sorry not in this picture.

Cut out your 3 circles - mine are in K and Co Wild Saffron paper

Ink the edges of the circles and then cut a slit into the middle

Ink the edges of each of the circles and then use the cocktail stick to role the edges of the paper under
This is what the circle should look like with the edges curled down
Next where the slit is overlap the two sides by about 1cm - use the PVA to stick it together.
Do this to all three circles
Then push the centres down - this is so that the flower will layer better together and also it is slightly flatter for your page or card :)
All 3 layers appropriately squashed then use 3D foam to stick them all together
Place a button in the middle and this is the end result
I hope you enjoyed that - if you have a go at making any then please leave me a link as I would love to see them in action.

WOYWW

I haven't joined in with WOYWW for ages...however seeing all the posts go up and the fact that I started a LO last night so have a little bit of something to show :)  I have my photos and papers ready - they are in the top left corner, then last night I had a good acrylic flick and paint session.  I have discovered that even with careful paint flicking I can still cover myself quite well in little dots of paint - good job it is washable.  My plan for this at the moment is to try and make a very boy LO (avoid flowers - which will be hard for me :)).  As you can see tidyness is not one of my strengths there are all sorts of favourites on my desk still - like the string, and my button box.  If you would like to join in with WOYWW then pop over here

Bikes

Continuing with my love of string and jillibean paper!! : D I threaded it, wrapped it and then stitched with it - my tip for sewing it is to split out the fibres and maybe only use one/two strands (like in cross stitch).  Always make the holes 1st too - I pencilled the swirls 1st then made holes over the lines and then rubbed them out and stitched it.  I turned this into a running stitch.  For my threading string - I used the martha stewart double loop punch.  The wrapping was around one of the jillibean blossom soup die cuts.  Most of the papers I have used are part of the blossom soup range, I made some more rosettes and used deckle edge scissors and the double loop punch for those.  I also used the scalloped edge die cut from that set to make lots more scalloped edge paper as it is a great template :) I inked my kraft letters, and stitched a folded bicycle paper ribbon, added a few stickers.  So this is a traditional holiday adventure on our bikes - I was looking after my youngest and had the job of being chief motivator - it was a glorious day and the kids were exhausted and slept well at the end - so did I.  Here are the close ups for you.

Cherish

This is only the 2nd photo I have scrapped of me when I was young - my Dad took this photo and used to develop all his pictures too - this is a scanned image of one of them.  So there I am just after my 4th birthday (the story goes that sent my Mum into labour), the very proud big sister of my brother - yep his birthday is the day after mine.  The other bit of information included in the journalling envelope is that I am wearing my sisters dress and my sister was wearing my clothes which suprised my Mum when we got to the hospita.  The papers I have used are sassafras indie girl, and I used the Sarahs Card monthly challenge sketch for the LO. I made some water distressed flowers, and stickled them around the edges, I also cut some flowers from one of the sheets of paper and added some roses that I had picked up too - I cut of the stalks and then curled them around a cocktail stick and added them into my group of flowers.  I had seen some beautiful paper beads on the jillibean soup blog - I think I have something similar made by Suze Wineberg and dunked in UTEE - so will have to try that too.  I threaded the beads with some string - yep another way to attach string to you LO, attach it with beads. The title is a fabric sticker I have had for ages, but it seemed to go really well with the picture, here are the close ups.

Thank you Cards

Here are some cards that I made over the last couple of days.  Mixture of styles and ideas!  I have used a variety of Jillibean papers to make my houses, then doodled them - the thanks stickers are My Little Shoebox - they are a great size and so useful!
This is a variation on a quilled card - I roughly twisted the circles around a cocktail stick and then squashed them a bit - which makes them a bit more Rennie Mackintosh style rose (good for using up odds and ends of cardstock as the strips need to be fairly thin).  I edged my heart shape with some lace.

The last card I had my sewing machine out so had to use it. I first cut out several strips of paper using my deckle edge scissors and then stitched them down the middle (another great way to use up your scraps) - I like the ruffled effect it gives.  I cut out a bird house and covered a maya road chipboard bird with the papers I was using.  I inked the chipboard branch and then attached the bird house to it using some ribbon.

Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud

These photos were taken on a recent walk to a local lake and park - I am glad that we covered all the kids in waterproof clothing as it was even more muddy than I was expecting!  The papers are Jillibean Soup - Faglioi.  I crumpled the film strip to make a zig zagy border.  I have used some household string, which I dunked in PVA to run up and down the page (it has stuck really well), I then added some flowers to the strings, mainly to cover any blobs of PVA you could see and the others just to look pretty :)  I think I should invest in some proper twine - can anyone tell me whether it comes coated in stickiness or whether you still have the dilemma of how to attach it in a free flowing way to your page.  My methods so far seem to be PVA, staples, or glued behind things like bunting.  Here are some close ups.
The butterfly punch is Martha Stewart and I found a tiny punch I picked up from the poundshop which was the perfect size for the flowers on the paper.

Very excited

I have some exciting news, I have been selected to be one of the guest designers for Scrap Revolution.

They are a great shop with a wide range of scrapping products and they also run crops.  There is a great group of talented ladies that have been chosen and you can find out more about them from here.  I am looking forward to creating for them....really excited and pleased to  have been picked.  Also a big thank you for all of my blog commenters too for your support as I love all the comments from you - thank you.

Still haven't stopped smiling, hopefully I will be back with some creations to share shortly :)

Using up left over papers - Birthday Boy

I used up loads of my scraps of a variety of My Little Shoebox papers on this LO.  I cut out some of the lanterns from the Harmony range as they went well with the picture anddoodled the string.  I used some left over strips to create the backing for my photos, to make it a little more interesting I dusted off my deckle edge scissors and crumpled some of the papers. In this LO I decided to try a black and white and a colour photo - mainly as I love the cake shot my DH took :).  I stapled some twine in loops and then tied some little bits of ribbon that I have to use up.  Lastly I made some rosette flowers with offcuts.  The large one (which is very 3d - not sure how well this LO will fit in my page protecter!) I punched the side with my Martha Stewart double loop punch which gives a really nice effect, then added another one on top and a button - can't get much more 3 dimensional than that!!  Thanks for popping by, and I would encourage you to use up your scraps, hopefully this LO has given you some inspiration for that.

Fireworks

I am still catching up on my scrapping from last year...so here is my Fireworks LO.  I wanted to have a multiple photo page so the grid worked well for this.  The papers are by pebbles from the tree house range, I picked these as the red went with the fireworks.  I made all my embellishments for this LO - including my corrugated star wrapped in string, my 3d glittered star, and my string lines (I punched out some mini stars for these using a poundland punch - they are also good for covering up any stray PVA used to stick the string down).  I edged all my journalling with a black gel pen to make it stand out, I did the same with the title letters (still not happy with the title I speant ages deliberating on what to use and still don't think I got it quite right!).  I can't take any credits for the firework photos, they were all done by my DH who relished the chance of trying to get some good shots of them, and did a good job.  Here are some close ups.  Thanks for popping by.
